KS 17 River boat trip along the Russian borderline in the land of brown bears
Start from Kirkenes and driving by buss app. 20 min to our base “Solvang Gård” in the beautiful nature of Pasvik valley. We go on board and start our boat trip on Pasvik River to experience the nice nature and Russia on the other side of the river. The Pasvik river is Norway’s next larges when it comes to the flow of water. It consists of large lakes that are connected to each other by short, narrow rivers. In the middle of the river is the Russian-Norwegian border.The boat trip along the Russian border takes 1,5 h with several stops on our way. We go ashore on a small island which is half Russian and half Norwegian. We will walk close up to the border and our guide will tell you about the history of the borderland. It is prohibited to cross the border, but we are allowed to take pictures – so do not forget to bring your camera! This is as close you can get to the Russian border! After the boat trip we will sit down around the fire place and enjoy a local delicacy (Arctic char) + coffee/tea. A very personal tour with much information about history, nature and the way of living in the North. A tour you will remember.

By river boat from Svanvik to Melkefoss & visit in a husky farm
We go by bus from Kirkenes to Svanvik that is situated at the beautiful Pasvik valley approximately 40 kilometres from the town. At Svanvik we will get a guided tour in the National Park Centre before watching a short film about the nature of this area. We do a security check and put on life vests before boarding the riverboat. One of the places we will explore is a narrow part of the river on the Russian side. We will experience contrasts between Russia and Norway - the Russian city Nikel on the one side and the Norwegian settling on the other side of the border.
Further up the river we will visit the husky farm "BIRK" in Melkefoss, where we will be served lunch made of the local ingredients and visit the huskys before heading back to Svanvik. During the tour our guide will tell you about the unique history of this area.
