Sightseeing to Pasvik valley including dinner

 

A guided trip by buss to Pasvik valley. The valley is one of the last wilderness areas in Europe and known for its big brown bear population. You get both, a nice nature experience and information about the interesting history of this area right beside Russia. We follow the Pasvik river (border river to Russia) all the way to Svanvik. Visit in the chapel and in the National Park Centre which provides information about fauna and flora. Next stop is the viewpoint “Høyde 96” where you can visit the observation tower. Fantastic view over the border into the Russian neighbourhood Nikel. We finish our trip at husky farm BIRK where we get served a 2 course dinner in our traditional lavvo. Possibility to visit the huskys.

By river boat along the Russian border & visit in a husky farm incl. dinner

We go by bus from Kirkenes to Svanvik that is situated at the beautiful Pasvik valley approximately 40 kilometres from the town. At Svanvik we will get a guided tour in the National Centre before watching a short film about the nature of this area. We do a security check and put on life vests before boarding the riverboat. One of the places we will explore is a narrow part of the river on the Russian side. We will experience contrasts between Russia and Norway - the Russian city Nikel on the one side and the Norwegian settling on the other side of the border.
Further up the river we will visit the husky farm "BIRK" in Melkefoss, where we will be served lunch made of the local ingredients and visit the huskys before heading back to Svanvik. During the tour our guide will tell you about the unique history of this area.
