KI31 Sightseeing to the Norwegian-Russian border and the mining community Bjørnevatn

A guided trip by bus to the Russian border and the iron ore mines in Bjørnevatn. Our first stop is Skafferhull, the historical crossing point on the border between Norway and Russia. We visit the border and have views of the Russian community of Boris Gleb on the other side. Your guide will provide information on the various historical events which took place in this area. We continue to the mining town Bjørnvatn which has gone throug dramatic changes the last years. The mines were closed in 1996 and reopened again in 2009. Here we gain an insight into 90 years of mining history. We continue our trip to the viewpoint "Storfjell" where we get a nice view over the fjord before returning to Kirkenes

Hunting for the Northern Lights along the Russian border

On this trip you do not drive your own snowmobile. You can sit comfortable and warm in the sledge and just enjoy the winter landscape and hopefully the Northern lights. Start by minibus and guide in Kirkenes, 20 min drive to our base "Solvang Gård" in Pasvik valley. Guiding on our way. Pasvik valley is a fascinating wilderness area and the border to Russia. The trip is both a nice nature experience and provides information about the interesting history in this border area. On our base we start our snowmobile trip out on the ice of the Pasvik river. Experience the cold and dark climate while hunting for the Northern lights along the Russian border. After the trip we serve a light meal in our cosy hut.
