KI12 Sightseeing in Pasvik valley and visit at National Park Centre

A guided trip by buss to Pasvik valley. Small groups from 2 to max 16 guests – tour with a personal touch and a local guide. A guided trip by buss to Pasvik valley. The valley is one of the last wilderness areas in Europe and known for its unique fauna and flora. You get both, a nice nature experience and information about the interesting history of this area right beside Russia. We follow the Pasvik river (border river to Russia) all the way to Svanvik. Visit at the National Park Centre which provides information about fauna and flora and the brownbear information Centre. Several stops along the way where you have good views of the river and to Russia (stops varies slightly with the seasons).

KI31S Kirkenes Highlights – Russian border & Snowhotel

In only 2,5 hours you get presented all winter highlights in Kirkenes. A  guided trip by bus to the Russian border and the famous snowhotel. Included is also guiding about Kirkenes, the way of living up here, the local history and our relations with Russia. Small groups from 2 to max 16 guests – tour with a personal touch and a local guide. Our first stop is the crossing point Storskog on the border between Norway and Russia. We visit the border and have views of the Russian community of “Boris Gleb” on the other side of the border. Your guide will provide information on the various historical events which took place in this area. We continue to Kirkenes Snowhotel. Visit at the Snow Hotel which is a beautiful piece of snow architecture and Arctic nature. The 20 suites, ice sculptures and live reindeers make this the most photographic spot in the Norwegian Arctic. You get enough time to see all the rooms and make plenty of pictures. The Snow Hotel is situated 6 km from Kirkenes. The rooms are build of snow and there is a average temperature of -4 C inside. After this cool experience we go back to Kirkenes.

KI31 Kirkenes sightseeing & Russian border

This tour gives you in just 2 hours a good insight about the local history, the nature and clima and the modern Kirkenes. A guided trip by bus to the Russian border and the iron ore mines in Bjørnevatn. Small groups from 2 to max 16 guests, the tour is with a personal touch and a local guide. Our first stop is the historical crossing point “Skafferhullet” on the border between Norway and Russia. We visit the border and have views of the Russian community of “Boris Gleb” on the other side. Your guide will provide information on the various historical events which took place in this area. We continue to the mining town Bjørnvatn which has gone throug dramatic changes the last years. The mines were closed in 2015. Here we gain an insight into 90 years of mining history. We continue our trip to the viewpoint “Storfjell” where we get a nice view over the Langfjord and the Pasvikvalley before returning to Kirkenes.

KI90 Kirkenes sightseeing: Walkingtour/tour with kick-sledge in Kirkenes centrum with local guide

Walking tour Kirkenes with local guide. In winter we offer the tour by kick sledge, our traditional transport in winter time. Have fun and get interesting facts about Kirkenes history and the daily life (use of kick sledge depends on snow conditions, 2 pers per sledge).

KI33 Hunting for the Northern Lights along the Russian border

An exclusive northern-light tour in small groups from 2 to 10 persons, with a personal touch and a local guide. This tour is suitable for families/children. A trip where our guests are sitting safe and warm in a sledge pulled by a snowmobile to get out in the cold and dark winter landscape (suits perfect for everybody that don’t want to drive a snowmobile themselves but still want to come out in nature, it’s a very good trip for northern light photographers). Ideal to observe the northern lights. Start by minibus, with guide in Kirkenes, 20 minute drive to our base “Solvang Gård” in Pasvik valley. Guiding on our way and stop at viewpoint “Storfjell”. Pasvik valley is a fascinating wilderness area and the border to Russia. The trip is both a nice nature experience and provides information about the interesting history in this border area. On our base we start our sledge trip (snowmobile) out on the ice of the Pasvik river. After the trip we serve coffee/tea in our cosy hut in “Solvang Gård”. Transfer  back to Kirkenes.

We cannot guarantee a sighting of the Northern Lights – this relies on weather conditions.

KI17 Northern lights by buss (Aurora Express)

A knowledgeable guide will check the latest magnetic forecast and decide whether to take you by minibus towards the Russian border or in the opposite direction toward the Finnish border. We go to the location where we have the biggest chance to see the Aurora. We never know when the Aurora shows up (Northern light can not be guaranteed, the tour can be cancelled due to bad weather conditions)

KI34 King Crab and Russian Border by bus – min 4 persons

Kirkenes is the King Crab capital of Norway and the only Norwegian border point to Russia. King Crab is an important export article in the north. This fascinating animal coming originally from Russia can grow up to 2 meters between the claws and can weigh up to 15 kg. After a tour around Kirkenes we head to the Russian border and get insight in Norwegian and Russian relations. From the Russian border we move further to the fjord where you get served a fresh King Crab meal in beautiful suroundings while getting more information about the crab and our area so far North.
