Sightseeing with local guide

We offer sightseeing with local guide in small groups (from 2 persons to maximum 16 persons).
We recommend to book the tours in advance.

KS32 Sightseeing in Pasvik valley and visit at National Park Centre

A guided trip by buss to Pasvik valley. Small groups from 2 to max 16 guests – tour with a personal touch and a local guide. The valley is one of the last wilderness areas in Europe and known for its unique fauna and flora. You get both, a nice nature experience and information about the interesting history of this area right beside Russia. We follow the Pasvik river (border river to Russia) all the way to Svanvik. Visit at the National Park Centre, which provides information about fauna and flora and the brown bear information Centre. Several stops along the way where you have good views of the river and to Russia (stops varies slightly with the seasons).

KS38 Sightseeing to Neiden and short trip to Finland

This excursion is by buss from Kirkenes to Neiden (40 km) along the Munkefjord while your personal guide tells you about the indigenous people’s history in the Barents region. Short photo stop along the way. A fascinating fjord landscape and a lively birdlife on the shore. Arriving in Neiden you will be guided through the Skolt village Cultural Heritage site, also visiting the orthodox St. George’s chapel, established in 1565. The trip continues visiting the terrific Skoltefossen waterfalls and the dragon-headed-decorated Neiden church. Next stop is the newly opened Skolt Sámi museum. The tour will be completed with a short visit to Näätämö in Finland.
The tour themes are: nature, Skolt Sámi history and culture, Finland and much more.

Walking tour Kirkenes with local guide. Start at our office in the main shopping street. In just 1 hour you get interesting facts about Kirkenes history and the daily life. The quickest way to get better known with Kirkenes.

KS06 Kirkenes sightseeing & Russian border

This tour gives you in just 2 hours a good insight about the local history, the nature and climate and the modern Kirkenes. A guided trip by bus to the Russian border and the iron ore mines in Bjørnevatn. Small groups from 2 to max 16 guests, the tour is with a personal touch and a local guide. Our first stop is the historical crossing point “Skafferhullet” on the border between Norway and Russia. We visit the border and have views of the Russian community of “Boris Gleb” on the other side. Your guide will provide information on the various historical events which took place in this area. We continue to the mining town Bjørnevatn which has gone through dramatic changes the last years. The mines were closed in 2015. Here we gain an insight into 90 years of mining history. We continue our trip to the viewpoint “Storfjell” where we get a nice view over the Langfjord and the Pasvikvalley before returning to Kirkenes.

KS39 Excursion to Grense Jakobselv & the oldest mountain in Norway

The small village Grense Jakobselv is located close to the Arctic Sea. Only a narrow river separates the village from Russia. Along the border you can observe border posts and sometimes also the border guards. Grense Jakobselv is located about 60 km East of Kirkenes. The tour to Grense Jakobselv is a wonderful nature experience and on a short distance you will experience fjord, mountains, the ocean and the fertile valley. We will be passing King Oscar II’s chapel from 1869, the vicar’s house and take a coffee break on a sandy beach by the Arctic Ocean. Are you tough enough to take a bath in the Arctic Ocean right beside Russia? Don’t forget your bathing suit.

You get both, a nice nature experience and information about the interesting history of this area right beside Russia. We follow the Pasvik river (border river to Russia) all the way to Svanvik. Visit in the National Park Centre which provides information about fauna and flora. After that we visit a viewpoint where you can see our neighbour in Russia, the mining town Nikel (only in summer time). After 10 min driving time we stop at husky farm Birk. Guiding and information about the huskies, husky tours and more. Local lunch in the viking long house close to the Pasvik river and the Russian border. This tour provides a lot of information about history, nature and the daily life in our area so far North.

KS34 King Crab and Russian Border by bus (min 4 persons)

Kirkenes is the King Crab capital of Norway and the only Norwegian border point to Russia. King Crab is an important export article in the north. This fascinating animal coming originally from Russia can grow up to 2 meters between the claws and can weigh up to 15 kg. This sightseeing will give you more information about the “King Crab City – Kirkenes”. After a tour around Kirkenes we head to the Russian border and get insight in Norwegian and Russian relations. From the Russian border we move further to the fjord where you`ll be served a full King Crab meal in wonderful surroundings while getting more information about the crab and our area so far North.
